Eyes Shut

All of these dreams were back to back. I'd wake up after being scared half to death and then fall immediately back to sleep only for it to happen again. I am getting over bronchitis and I am on two prescribed medications. I am also taking an herbal remedy (Cold MD) and sometimes Ibuprofen (body aches, pain) and Pepcid AC (stomach acid from drainage) as needed. I couldn't let these nightmares go without blogging about them. So with my best clarity, here's what happened only a little while ago...

I first awoke this morning (or so I thought) to a woman who looked suspiciously like reality TV star Tiffany "New York" Pollard. What's odd about this is that she has a receptionist desk in my bedroom -- this room is EXACTLY like my bedroom, except there's a desk that matches my existing furniture and she's appearing to be doing some kind of work at the desk, or planning something. We began to have some small talk (those details I do not remember). In the dream, I commented that although she looked like New York, she was much nicer than New York, and I agreed to help her move on June 3rd when she asked for my help. I told her it might even be best that I help her pack some things up on June 2nd just to make sure she's prepared for the move. Near the end, where we were finalizing the details of the move, my eyes shut aggressively and would not open. I felt like they had a mind of their own and using whatever strength is up there in my eye muscles just didn't seem to be enough and I didn't know what to do, so I panicked. I woke up...

After taking a short second to calm down, I fell asleep again (it didn't take long at all, which is strange, because it typically does). In the dream, I woke up to Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist Sean Paul laying against me. It's been a little while since I've had somebody share my bed with me, so I was actually pleased! He was talking incoherently about the music industry -- I was waking up in the dream, so I had no idea what he was saying -- I just enjoyed his accent! So as we were talking and I was attempting to wrap my arm around him, my eyes started to shut -- again! Like clockwork, I panicked and had problems breathing. I woke once more...

Like before, I rapidly fell asleep after the nightmare. This time, I am driving. Nothing spectacular, but there are cars on either side of me on the road, and then my eyes start to shut uncontrollably. It's like my eyes are getting revenge on me despite the fact that I could be seriously injured or that I could die. Of course, I wake up... with shortness of breath and a feeling of "what the *#@!"

Oh the nightmare train didn't end there! Oh, no! Apparently, I'm at somebody's home. There are three people there: a male/female couple and a male. They seem nice, they're attractive, and I believe they are my friends or at least good acquaintances (although I have to say I have never seen these people in my life). I spent the night and I am again waking up (there seems to be a pattern here). The couple apparently rescues all kinds of animals, including exotic ones, and then returns them to the authorities. They had a tiger in the back yard in an enclosure, which was apparently their latest rescue. The woman had said something about they go out in the mornings nude, so who was I to argue? When I got up, I went outside and blindly followed her instructions. Gnats were everywhere, they were hitting my eyes there must have been at least a hundred of them. I also realized I was in a highly developed neighborhood (rows and rows of condos) and that people would see me. I went back into the house through the sliding glass door and there were my three friends/acquaintances with their clothes on, enjoying coffee and/or standing in the kitchen. They looked at me oddly when I was naked, but I'm not that ashamed of my body, so I just walked in like it didn't matter (what else could I have done?). I didn't bother to ask them why such an instruction was given to me. I went upstairs, and right before I arrived to what I believe was the guest room where I was staying, my eyes failed me again. So, where before it didn't matter that I was naked and I tried to play it off, I was now completely embarrassed and blinded and didn't know what to do about clothes or taking care of myself with everyone else downstairs. Furthermore, I was completely horrified I wasn't in the correct room. I was panicking just like before, in the other scenarios above... these dreams are just insane...

After the last dream, I had dozens of floaters that swirled around like gnats. Definitely not a coincidence as what I saw in my nightmare just left an impression on my eyes. After looking in the mirror, I realize my eyes have never been this bloodshot before. I'm off to get some Visine.

Analyze this?

Still walking...

The dream began in a large barren dirt field, somewhat resembling a run-down town square. A road lead along one edge of the field; the adjacent edge was empty, and two imposing buildings formed an L enclosing the remaining sides. A group of about 15 twenty-somethings were playing a game that was like Red Rover. We ran at one another, trying to keep something that looked like a CVS savings card away from the other team. I had just made my run at the other line, and ended up grappling with a boy. We had made a habit of that when either of us ran (I knew this intuitively, though I didn’t see it in the dream), and this development was fairly recent. A voice called out to tease me about so easily switching to this new boy from the old – apparently, I had been doing the same thing with someone else, and had suddenly lost interest in favour of a new challenge. At that point, there was a swarm of people from the other team, and I lost the card to another girl in the pile of writhing bodies.

...I was walking down the granite steps of the building across from the road. It felt like I was leaving the Library of Congress, a fancy restaurant done up in mahogany, or some other such place where people are quiet and behave respectably. I was naked from the waist up and my jeans were unbuttoned, though I didn’t think that anything indiscreet or unusual had happened. The game was still being played in the square. My parents quickly drove up the road in an old, broken van and stopped across from the building. Mommy was clearly upset, and she was helping Dad out of the car. Naturally, I bounded down the steps to see what was going on.

Dad looked unwell. He was pale, with a yellow undertone to his skin. He was covered in sweat, but felt clammy. He was unbelievably thin, with hollow cheeks and sunken eyes. He didn’t really know what was happening. He had a vacant stare, and the sharp blue of his irises had turned dull. We looked at him lying in the dirt with his head on a fluffy white pillow. Mommy said he was dying.

...The dream becomes kind of fuzzy from this point forward; I don’t remember very much. The scene shifted completely to a bustling little town fair like Steppin’ Out in Blacksburg. The field, Mommy, the buildings, and the Red Rover game all disappeared. It was my responsibility to take care of Dad. He was still just as ill, but he was somehow walking around and talking to people. I kept losing him. Finally, I was able to catch up with him as he was leaving the fair. We walked together through some wrought-iron posts along the sidewalk and continued on through a break in the trees. I think we made small talk about how pleasant the day was. He didn’t notice how flustered I was.

...The scene changed again, this time to a passenger train like in Murder on the Orient Express. The hallways were dark and narrow, and people kept getting between me and Dad. I tried to weave around them as best I could, but it was wasn’t enough. I was held back by the crowd, while Dad continued down the train. When I caught him, I asked how he was feeling. He spoke with me for a bit, and then we became separated again. This happened in almost every car. At times he would treat me like a stranger, while at other times he would be warm and confiding like a father. After one particularly meaningful conversation (I don’t recall what it was about), I couldn’t find Dad. Worried, I started opening doors to private rooms, pushing people out of my way, etc. Just when I about to panic, I found Dad resting in a room with several other people. They were sprawled everywhere, and I had to climb over them to get near him. There was no real room to stand, so I layed down on the twin bed with him. I wiped the sweat off his face, and repositioned the white sheet to better cover his bare legs. When I had made sure that he was okay, I tried to reopen our earlier conversation. He didn’t remember it. I’m not sure if he even remembered who I was. He was using all the energy he had to stay awake and be polite.

...A young man was driving us through a semi-rural area. I was in the passenger seat and Dad was slouched in the backseat. He looked the same as before, but now his behaviour matched how sick he was. Knowing that Dad had wanted to take a trip to the mountains (we had done that together when I was younger), I suggested that we drive up to Mt. Hood. The driver, who seemed familiar, glanced into the backseat. He looked back at me and said, “I don’t think that’s such a good idea. I don’t think he’ll make it.” Then I woke up.

Freddy Krueger: You Ass!

I was going to a New Year's Eve party with my brother. Somebody mentioned beer, somebody mentioned a pentagram, people were laughing and it all sounded pretty evil.

Before I head on over, I watch Freddy Krueger. I'll just explain the scene that I thought I saw...

It's dark. A kid sees his friend in the back seat of his SUV. He opens the door and talks to the kid, but something seems eerie and not quite right. Then there's a kid talking in the third row of the SUV, but the kid is in a trashbag. Now the first friend isn't there anymore. Then there are two trashbags, then three, then four. There's not blood or anything, just these talking trash bags now. Then Freddy pops out, and grabs the kid who came to investigate.

I really don't think I've ever seen anything like that in a Freddy Krueger movie. I think my mind is overactive sometimes.

So, after I watch that scene in the movie, I don't feel like going out to the party. Actually, I did stop by the party. This guy was acting really stupid and I stabbed him with a fork for some reason. Actually, two of the rungs broke off and he wasn't bleeding - it was odd. He said, "Yeah, I'm going to sue you for $400,000" and then I informed him that I was broke and had no money. Soon after, I leave the party.

I woke up soon after. That dream was twisted....

A vampire was my roommate.

So, I had a really odd dream. I had a friend/roommate that was a real vampire. I was kind of weirded out, but I had gotten so used to it, that I just really didn't care anymore. Well, in the dream, he was standing by my door about to close it, staring back at me. I was tired, so I told him, "have a good night," because I was going to bed and I know that's his favorite time [naturally!]. He replied with, "I will!" and flew over me and started to attack me! I was so scared, but I fought him off and that was the end of the dream. I was more mad because I thought that he and I were good enough friends that he wouldn't try to kill me [how rude!]. I was terribly frightened when I woke up from that dream.
